Creative Compassion
At the heart of all Business as Mission work is the heart of Jesus Himself. And that means creativity and compassion. Never have these things been more needed than right now in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. Let’s think about those two BAM characteristics in reverse.
Compassion. Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw the lost and suffering crowds in Israel. Is He any less moved with compassion today? And compassion led Him to help. It wasn’t just feeling; that would be sympathy or empathy. He acted. He healed. He fed. He encouraged. What is the compassion of Jesus in you moving you to address through your life and business?
Creativity. We are “little c” creators but the Big C Creator is in us. Never let anyone tell you and certainly don’t tell yourself that you aren’t creative. It’s in your DNA, my friends. Learn how to let your mind look at things from different angles, to find connections between things that aren’t obvious, put things together in a different way with a view to meeting the needs toward which your compassion is leading you.
One example very appropriate to these times. Bacardi, the rum manufacturing company, decided almost immediately that they needed to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Somehow, they connected what their distilling and bottling machinery could do with the pressing need for hand sanitizer. The company pivoted on a dime and began to manufacture what people needed and it’s been a smashing success for them and for the public.
Unleash your creative compassion in the name of Jesus!
